Abstract: CFG pile composite foundation is one of the methods of foundation treatment for storage tanks.According to behaviors of the uneven settlement of storage tank foundation,it is pointed out that the design method of composite foundation should be settlement controlling instead of bearing capacity controlling The settlement calculation method has been analyzed and a new settlement controlling design method based on optimization theory has been brought forward for CFG pile composite foundation forstorage tanksThe design variable,objective function and constraint conditions has been put forward.This method has been used of one of the storage tanks of a crude oil project.The feasibility and economical efficiency of this method through the application in practical projects has been verified.
